Absolutely fantastic service. I ended up going with Aarons Moving Peninsula after calling several moving companies in the area for a quote. Here're the quotes I got:
1. Mont/Rose Moving Systems Inc. (Mayflower) - 2 man crew at $92.50/hr with a 4 hour minimum, total minimum charge $407 (minimum too long).
2. Pacific Storage Company (Bekins) - 2 man crew at $104/hr with a 4 hour minimum Mon-Fri, and a 6 hour minimum Sat-Sun. (Yikes, WAY too long).
3. Unisource Relocation (Moving Pros) - 2 man crew at $85/hr with a 4 hour minimum (Really, really nice people and the pricing among the best even with a 4 hour minimum).
4. All Reason Moving & Storage - 3 man crew at $150/hr with a 2 hour minimum, or a 2 man crew at $100/hr with a 3 hour minimum, $300 total minimum charge.
5. Aarons Moving Peninsula - 2 man crew at $90/hr with a 3 hour minimum Mon-Fri, or $100/hr Sat-Sun.
6. Moovers Inc. - 2 man crew at $82/hr with a 3 hour minimum (These are nice guys).
Aarons Moving Peninsula won out because they could have a 2 man crew come out that weekend at such short notice and at a good price. Viktoria was also extremely nice on the phone and sent emails promptly. Since I had less than 1000 lbs to move, I wanted to find a moving company that had a short minimum of hours, but had a good reputation and was fairly priced.
I had used Moovers Inc. before and really liked them, but they had no availability on short notice.
Constantine and the other mover (never got his name) arrived early at 9 am. I had everything packed and ready to go except hanging clothes which they put swiftly into box wardrobes (you get 4 for use at no charge). They had all my stuff in the moving van in less than 40 minutes WITHOUT banging my stuff around!
They followed me to the new place and in just 30 minutes, had everything unloaded and upstairs!! I couldn't believe how fast they were, yet careful with my items and mindful of asking me where I wanted things put.
I didn't watch them like a hawk but worked around them, like sweeping the kitchen while they were going in and out of my bedroom. Truly, they needed no supervision. They got right down to work and did an excellent job. The move took a total of 1 hour and 30 minutes, with double drive time between the locations. I paid the 3 hour minimum charge without a quam.
I would hire these guys again in an instant.

I used Aaron's based off a friend's review and recommendation-- and they were so good I agreed to sing in his wedding ( :
Really nice guys- everything went smoothly and about 2 hours and $160 less than the price they had quoted me- despite having a difficult stairway from a second floor apt in San Bruno-- they even set my bed up for me when we got to Mountain View! They were professional, quick, polite and friendly-- I can't say enough. It was the first time I have moved that a U-Haul has not been involved- and I will call them every time (guess I'd better stay in the Bay Area a while.....)

We've never used movers before because usually our friends will come and help but I think our friends are tired of helping us move and getting paid just in food. My hubby, Ryan, called a few places and this one seemed to have the best rates, no hidden fees, and were on the BBB. We were moving from a 1 bedroom to another 1 bedroom in the Albany/Berkeley area so we didn't have a lot of stuff.
Let me start off with the pros...They were efficient and seemed to have a plan of packing the truck so our belongings wouldn't get damaged and they only took 1 break.
Now for the cons...We had 2 movers and they were late!!! They were supposed to arrive at our apt. between 9 and 9:30 a.m. They arrived at 9:50. They were slow in moving our things. We had everything packed and ready to go. We were also not told that they would charge for the drive back to the South Bay. When they were finished, we gave them both a tip and one of the guys had the nerve to negotiate his tip. Now, keep in mind that the rates are $100/hr plus they tacked on gas fees, stair fees, and their drive back. So all in all, we paid a little over $700. I just wasn't impressed at all with their service.
I definitely would not use them again for their moving services. I'm mixed about whether I would recommend anyone else to use them since we had a very mixed experience.

We just used these guys yesterday for a move from Palo Alto to Redwood City and they were great. Easy to work with on the phone, sent an email confirmation, and explained the rates clearly. When they arrived, they walked through the apartment with my husband then asked him what time he had and wrote the start time as five minutes after that and immediately went to work. They were very fast and very careful with all of our things, showed up immediately at our new place in Redwood City, and loaded everything in. The price was exactly what they said it would be. We were very very happy with the entire experience.
We had to call then the day we needed to move, after a very bad "U-haul + Craigslist" experience.
They were perfect. They did their work fast and smoothly.
Maybe you can find better price around but I'm not sure if the quality will be the same.
The next time we will not think twice! We'll just call them!

The glowing reviews of Aaron's Moving are no lie -- they are awesome! I had a horrible experience with Starving Students Movers. The guys from Aaron's Movers (I wish I remembered their names!) were wonderful -- professional, kind and (GASP!) they actually moved my items quickly and carefully. Because they were efficient, my move went faster than I expected, saving me money and time. I HIGHLY recommend Aaron's Movers!
I picked these guys based on the reviews here on Yelp. Often reviews here aren't really accurate - but I have to say, all the positive ones are spot on in this case. This company was fantastic in all ways - competitively prices, insanely fast, professional (nothing broken), organized (the main office confirmed the appointment, emailed necessary forms, etc.) and on top of that, pretty nice guys (we gave them a few Stellas after the successful move). Highly recommended.
I just moved this past weekend from Sunnyvale to Redwood City and these guys were great! Walt and Mike were very friendly, efficient, and took great care of all my belongings. It only took 2 hours for the entire move, including drive time. The only thing preventing me from giving them 5 stars is a bit of miscommunication regarding wardrobe boxes. My confirmation email stated they would bring 4 wardrobe boxes free of charge, but they did not have any upon arrival. However, I still highly recommend them and would use them for a future move!
The best professional moving experience I have ever had!!! I moved from the border of Santa Clara and Sunnyvale to the border of Sunnyvale and Mountain View. The movers, Alex and Constantine, rocked! They took excellent care of my furniture. They were polite, professional, fast yet careful and super-efficient.
I was really nervous at first because I have a table that I love but is made of super soft wood. They wrapped it up and handled it like a baby. I inspected it thoroughly at the new place and not a scratch or nick anywhere. I would use this company again in a heart beat.
These guys are amazing! I highly recommend them. They arrived on time and ready to work. I've never seen movers be so careful with belongings. They only took one smoke break and had our one bedroom moved from Burlingame to Palo alto within 3 hours. I don't understand the reviews saying they were moody or that they took a lot of breaks. We offered them drinks and they were welcomed but when we offered lunch they politely declined and kept working away. I've already recommended them to a coworker and will definitely use them again.

I used these guys to move from Mountain View to SoMA and they did a fantastic job. I moved on a Saturday and they charged $100 an hour for two movers. There was a fuel surcharge due to the distance, but they don't charge and extra hour for the return journey. They showed up on time and got straight to work. The only thing that got damaged was one of my plants but everything else was moved without a problem.
Pros:
On time
No added fees
Nothing broke
Cons:
Mentioned they accepted "tips", before starting the job!
Too many breaks!
Not careful enough with items
Come across as lazy
Don't care where things go... take the easy way out
Not sure the one guy understood English very well
Didn't take shoes off, or protect carpet with anything
Streak of black dirt at the top of our stairs that wasn't there before (on our BEIGE, brand new carpet)
I chose these guys based on the Yelp reviews.
Anyway, 2 young guys from Aarons Moving showed up on time and based on a brief meeting on what to take and what to leave got started. No huge problems, but they could have been done sooner, if they weren't so slow, and didn't stop so much.
Oh, oh, oh.. can't forget this part! They took a lunch break 2 hrs after arriving. Then, my husband and I were going to go and grab something to eat (and bring it back) -- so we (the polite people that we are ;) asked if they wanted anything... well, of course! So, we bring back their grub, and they immediately take ANOTHER lunch break. My husband and I gobbled up our meal, and cont'd back to work. I looked out the window about 10-15 min's after we had been back to work... and the movers were STILL sitting, eating, chatting, smoking!!!
I took a TOTAL of 10 min's to quickly eat. And, NO other break within the 6 hrs. And, they probably took, at least 4-5 breaks... usually 10-15 mins long. Besides the one extra long break of about 30 min's!
We had already moved most of our things (heavier furniture) and most of our household items in a previous move - and I think it took them just as long, if not longer! The previous movers really stayed on task, until the job was finished. (I'll review them yet too :)
The lady who booked our move was really nice, and she confirmed the move and time of arrival the day before. I was told it was $45 per guy, with a minimum of 4 HRS. And, 5% discount for cash payment.
If you don't have very much to move... they might be okay for you. If you have a larger household to move... I would personally go for a larger reputable company. (And, hopefully "I" won't be needing to move anytime soon! (ever!) again!! ;)
& Yes, I did TIP them anyway at the end. What can I say, I'm a softy! ;) (My husband says I'm weak ;)

I mentioned Yelp and the girl said she gets a lot of referrals from here.
I moved from a Sunnyvale second floor condo to Mountain View and it went very smoothly.
I had a very large desk that was shoehorned into my condo and mainly just wanted them to move that which they did without a scratch. I ended up selling it later but at least it got moved.
Some things i found out:
They charge for stairs.
If they use plastic wrap they charge you. He used some but didn't charge me for using an old roll.
There was also supposed to be a travel charge but since i moved close to their office, no charge.
Great movers I would use again. Courteous and quick and strong.

Aaron's was able to arrange a move for me on short notice and asked for less of a minimum time commitment than did other companies. The movers were professional, fast and given that this was an emotional ordeal for me, very kind as well.
My only quibble with the service was in not receiving the promised phone call 30 minutes prior to the movers showing up.

Smoke breaks x5

Used these guys based solely on this website and calling a few places for estimates. 2 young dudes showed up on time and based on a brief meeting from me on what to take and what to leave got started.
No big issues, but they could have been done sooner then they were. Being an ex-marine I do work 1st and and then take time off. They charge a 2 hour min. and it took them about 6 hrs for 18 boxes and about 15 pieces of furniture. The new place had steps and they dropped/banged some items on these stairs.
I would use again unless I had good friends I could coax into helping me next time.

I'll never move myself again! Overall, they were really good and took extra care not to damage my things or my parents house when I moved out. They used blankets on the floor and all the pathways, because my parents are super anal and do not allow people to walk on the carpet with their shoes on - typical Asians! They were really accomodating and went out of their way to do that as it was a lot of work to lay the blankets down everywhere they walked. They also did a great job of moving my big screen tv, not a nick or scratch on it.
As far as cons, they kind of don't like you watching over them too much, but there was no way I wasn't going to. The one guy kept saying "don't worry don't worry I got it I got it" in a kind of a rude, rather typical Russian way. Also, my dad, I don't know what the heck he was thinking, offered them a beer and one of the guys accepted. I was furious at my dad, but it was likewise unprofessional of the guy to accept. It's not good to have your movers drinking and moving my shit on the job! Also, I did not like how they charge you for travel time back to the office. You have to factor that into the total time, but not for them to travel to your place, which doesn't really make sense to me. I did notice when they nicked the corner of my dresser foot, but it was a small chip and in an area that wasn't very noticeable. I decided I wasn't going to make a big deal about it, because what could they do anyway? I was also running out of time due to the stairs and having them lay down blankets on the carpet, so they let us move stuff ourselves near the end so I wouldn't go over time. They were really busting their butt to move all my shit and my huge screen tv that I'm sure is a couple hundred pounds!
Overall, I thought they were very good and I would definitely use them again. For a 1 bedroom and big screen tv, it cost me about $400 including tip. Luckily they didn't charge me for stairs, I forgot about that as there were a short flight of stairs to get into the condo main floor.

Given the reviews I thought they would be awesome. Three Russian guys, started out friendly but became more typically russian as the day wore on, in other words, moody and dark. They did a good job though it took a long time. Some of that was the slow elevator on the destination side. My previous move cost a little over $1000, this was $1600 and there was less stuff. I knew it was going to be more per hour but I thought since I was moving from a 2 bedroom to a 2 bedroom it would be faster. They seem to be careful movers but take their time.
Rafael is great. He's the owner and very involved in the whole process. The crew is very professional and caring. Glad to know these guys. I've also had the opportunity to refer my clients to them and have heard very good reviews.
I used this company for 4 times for the last 6 years to move myself and my family members. I always have been pleased with their professionalism. Everybody with whom I dealt so far from this company is very nice and friendly. I don't expect movers to smile and to laugh during the move, it's a hard work to do such a job and they have to concentrate all the time to make sure the move goes smoothly. Last time when they moved me from my house in Portola Valley to San Francisco they did an amazing job considering the hills, the size of the house, and a limited space for parking. My furniture is very expensive, most of it is custom made. They took an extra care for each single item for protection. I can't imagine to hire anybody else. I had worked with different teams from this company and always been pleased. This company became my family mover. I already recommended Aarons to my neighbors a few times and they were pleased with the service. I highly recommend to use Aaron's.
These guys did a great job. They packed us one day, moved us the next. They were neat, worked hard and very efficient. Most importantly they were $1800 less than their competition. I've had professional movers, including doing packing, a number of times in a number of places, and these guys were the fastest I've ever seen. It truly was amazing. Yes one plate broke along the way, but given the amount of stuff we have, and the fact that that was our only casualty along the way is really a testament to the professionalism of Aaron's.
These guys are fantastic. If you are moving from Mountain View to the City (i.e. San Fran) use these guys.
Vlad & Michael were both very professional and whilst being fast workers they took extreme care with moving all our things.
Viktoria was a great liaison and worked with us to ensure everything was organized ahead of time for the move.
Move with Aaron's moving and you will make one of the biggest life stresses (moving) far less stressful!
I will never forget that day March 2001, when I last herded up my finest in running friends and decided to move myself. What could I have possibly been thinking, runners are many things but being known for carrying heavy items up and 3 flights of stairs is not one of them. I vowed never to move myself ever again.
Fours months later, when I had to move again, I placed my calls, did my research and settled on Aaron's Moving. They are fine Russian family owned and operated business. The two guys doing the moving are fast, reliable, and sociable. Because they are a small shop, they only have the two movers but what really makes them special, they are personal. Now it could be that they just searched their records for any past experiences, I don't care when they got to me they remembered - made me feel special.
I'm about to move again and if they can handle the move in the time frame I need them I will be using them again.

This is the second time I've used this company and I've been very happy with the results. I moved from a three-story building with no elevator and the movers were very careful navigating the stairwells while carrying my furniture. Very polite and at the destination they placed everything exactly where I requested. I'd recommend them anytime.
With so many moving companies in the bay area, I would NEVER use these guys again. Here are the reasons why:
THEY DAMAGED OUR FURNITURE. While I likely expect there to be some small dings, they actually damaged my standing chest, stereo cabinet, futon bedframe, and mattress.
THEY ARE DECEPTIVE.
- When we questioned the movers about their taking a break, they gave us handbook telling us that we were supposed to pay for their cigarette break. The estimator NEVER gave us their handbook, no less mentioned it.
- We called the manager/estimator about the damage before settling the bill. He said we needed to pay the bill before the damage could be
addressed by their insurance. IT WAS A LIE. They wanted to get paid and NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR DAMAGE.
THEY DON'T KEEP THEIR COMMITMENTS.
- The estimator said they would wrap our white sofa before moving it. The movers DIDN'T.
- The estimator said he would come to look at the damaged furniture and address our complaint within 3 days. We DIDN'T hear from him and needed to call him again. He said he was too busy and couldn't come. The estimator has yet to call us to schedule a time.
I do NOT recommend these guys and would NEVER use them again!
